We have the absolute Honor to be hosting a fundraiser for Childhood Cancer Awareness, specifically, for our friend Jamie Elliott, who is a St Jude Hero and founder of the Fight Like a Kid Foundation.
Jamie has raised close to $100,000 since 2007 when her quest began to support St Jude Children’s Hospital, the very hospital that’s saved her 8 yr old daughter from osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Read her story here:
“Hi! My name is Jamie and my daughter Samantha was diagnosed with bone cancer, osteosarcoma, when she was 8. She was a patient at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis. St Jude treats the sickest children in the world and when we arrived in Memphis, my daughter’s cancer had already spread to her lungs. I’m thrilled to tell you that because of research done at St Jude, she is a 23 year old college graduate! At St Jude, treatment is free. They also provide housing, groceries and travel expenses for appointments during treatment and follow ups. We lived in Memphis for a year. Treatment AND life saving research is fully funded by donations from companies and individuals with the majority coming from individual fundraising. I began fundraising to give back to St Jude as a St Jude hero charity runner in 2007 and to date I have raised close to $100,000 for the hospital that saved my daughter. In November of 2018, I founded the Fight Like a Kid foundation to expand my support of families fighting childhood cancer. Through Fight Like a Kid, I have been able to provide gas money to families in Jackson and Scioto Counties to travel to Nationwide for cancer treatment and have joined with other foundations to provide Halloween costumes for kids in wheelchairs due to their cancer. Fight Like a Kid also donates boxes of Herr chips to the Ronald McDonald House in Columbus. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and Spitting Image Boutique has graciously offered to provide a place for me to sell Childhood Cancer Awareness t-shirts to help continue the work of Fight Like a Kid. Covid-19 has made this a heck of a year for fundraising and I can’t thank Jan and Jill enough for this opportunity. Money raised by the sale of the tees will go to help me meet my St Jude Hero fundraising goal for the New York City Marathon with the remainder used to benefit local families, Ronald McDonald House of Columbus and Make a Wish. Thank you all for your support!”
100% of the proceeds will go to this amazing cause!!
